We were previously renting in Historic Marietta when we had the realization that we were paying rent equal to a monthly mortgage payment. This 1,800-square-foot, 1973 home caught our eye and, while we were hoping to buy a starter home, we found that this was going to be our forever home. The best part is the house is located next to the Kennesaw National Battlefield Park. We love the outdoors, specifically hiking with our dogs, and this was a big selling point to us.

While I loved the style of the single-story ranch and the vaulted ceilings, I hated the original tan paint color of the living/dining space. However, I knew that was an easy change. When we moved in I made it my priority to paint the walls white to bring in light to the space. I also love how a crisp white wall can be a great canvas for a variety of decorations. The only space we didn’t paint white was our bedroom, which we wanted to be warm and inviting. We hope to also paint our guest bedroom, bathroom and spare room, which is currently my niece and nephew’s playroom, but we don’t want to rush into anything we don’t love 100%. I think it is important to live in a space for a little while to get a feel for it before running to paint everything all at once.
